STEFANO TO HOST FIRST RESPONDER FUNDING WORKSHOP

HARRISBURG – Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) will be hosting a First Responders Funding Workshop on Wednesday, Feb. 2, in Fayette County and Thursday, Feb. 3, in Somerset County.

“Our volunteer fire departments and EMS agencies continue to be challenged financially, and many state and federal grants are extremely competitive,” said Sen. Stefano.  “I want to make sure our first responders have all the information they need to maximize their chances of securing funding for the critical needs in our local communities.”

The Sen. Stefano First Responder Funding Workshop will feature tips on finding government and foundation grants and how to submit applications with a greater chance of success.  First responders are welcome to ask questions about current or future projects their organization is considering.  The workshop will feature Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency Director Randy Padfield, Acting State Fire Commissioner Tom Cook, and representatives from the Department of General Services and the Senate Republican Caucus Services Grant Team.  These contacts, as well as a reference manual that contains a comprehensive listing of grant programs and important contact information, will be a valuable reference for municipalities, fire departments, and EMS agencies.

“I greatly appreciate the service that our first responders are providing to our community,” said Sen. Stefano, chairman of the Senate Veterans Affairs & Emergency Preparedness Committee.  “And I urge all of our municipalities, fire departments and EMS agencies to participate.”
