HARRISBURG – Rep. Carl Walker Metzgar (R-69) and Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) today announced the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) approved state grants totaling more than $1 million to Somerset County.
“These projects are a great step to ensuring the well-being of Somerset County residents is protected,” said Metzgar. “I’m grateful to see these investments made into our communities so people can enjoy work and leisure activities.”
“I’m proud to see this funding go toward projects that are improving infrastructure and enhancing safety in our communities. By investing in these projects, we are strengthening our communities, encouraging local economic growth and making our neighborhoods more walkable and vibrant, thus enhancing the quality of life throughout Somerset County,” Stefano said.
The CFA allocated $842,510 to Berlin Borough to go toward the final phase of sidewalk rehabilitation along Main Street.
Jennerstown Borough received $245,607 to complete streetscape and walkway improvements throughout the borough.
The funding comes from the Multimodal Transportation Fund under the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which manages the state’s economic stimulus programs. The fund provides grants to encourage economic development and ensure a safe and reliable system of transportation is available in the Commonwealth.
