Stefano Announces Committee Assignments for 2025-26 Legislative Session

HARRISBURG – Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) was assigned to serve on six standing Senate committees during the 2025-26 legislative session: Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure as chair; State Government as vice chair; Aging and Youth; Community, Economic and Recreational Development; Rules and Executive Nominations; and Transportation.

“I’m honored to maintain my chairmanship of the Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee this session,” Stefano said. “I’m eager to continue addressing critical issues to protect ratepayers and uphold best practices in licensure.”

“I’m also excited to serve on committees that represent the interests of my district,” said Stefano. “They align with my legislative priorities to protect individual rights, promote economic growth, ensure government transparency and safeguard consumers from waste, fraud and abuse. I look forward to advancing initiatives to make our communities and Pennsylvania a better place to live, work and raise a family.”

The committees provide legislative oversight and help shape the language in bills that fall under their areas of responsibility.

The Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee protects the health and safety of the public by handling all legislation, rules and regulations on consumer affairs, regulated public utility services and the 29 professional and occupational licensing boards in Pennsylvania. It also oversees numerous state boards, authorities and commissions designed to uphold necessary standards of professional conduct.

The State Government Committee has broad oversight over the executive branch, including the Office of the Governor, the Departments of State and General Services, as well as the Civil Service, Historical and Museum, and State Ethics Commissions. It is also responsible for developing and approving legislation relating to campaigns and elections, ethics and transparency in state government, constitutional amendments, and state procurement and land sales.

The Aging and Youth Committee oversees the Department of Aging and reviews legislation that affects the programs and services dedicated to senior citizens and younger Pennsylvanians.

The Community, Economic and Recreational Development Committee supports business growth and development by working closely with the Department of Community and Economic Development on issues pertaining to the state’s various grant and loan programs.

The Rules and Executive Nominations Committee helps to decide whether Senate bills returning on concurrence from the House of Representatives are accepted and considers the governor’s executive nominations for his cabinet and departmental boards.

The Transportation Committee oversees all operations related to the state’s multimodal transportation system, including legislation and policy on roads and bridges, public transportation, railroads, airports and ports.
