Stefano, Rigby Announce More Than $523,000 in Grants for Windber Borough

HARRISBURG – Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) and Rep. Jim Rigby (R-71) today announced two state grants totaling more than $523,000 have been awarded through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA).

The Windber Area Authority received $357,800 for waterline replacements along Statler Road in Paint Township. Replacements are needed to improve system hydraulics, eliminate frequent breaks that disrupt service to customers and reduce future maintenance costs within the regionalized public water system serving five municipalities in two counties. The project will replace approximately 2,100 feet of twelve-inch waterline along Statler Road, including all necessary fittings, valves, hydrants and connections.

“I’m proud to see this funding come to Windber for significant enhancements in both infrastructure and recreational opportunities. Consistent, reliable access to clean water is vital. By replacing aging waterlines along Statler Road, multiple municipalities will be able to tap in and benefit from higher-quality water access. Improvements like this are a huge step forward and will greatly improve the overall quality of life in Windber and the surrounding areas,” Stefano said.

“I’m glad Sen. Stefano and I were able to partner and make these grants possible for Windber and its neighboring communities,” Rigby added. “The Local Share Account, which awarded these grants, is a great example of taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars being put to work as investments that improve their quality of life. I applaud local leaders for being proactive in applying for these highly competitive grants.”

The Windber Borough Municipal Authority received $165,269 to complete pool renovations including the installation of new splash pad flooring, refinishing of a larger water slide and the addition of a new water slide.

The grants were awarded through the CFA’s Local Share Account Program, which funds projects concerning the public interest, community improvement and economic development using gaming money generated by casinos.
