HARRISBURG – Sen. Pat Stefano (R-32) and Rep. Jesse Topper (R-78) announced more than $1.2 million in funding distributed by the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) was awarded for water and sewer projects in Bedford County.
“The importance of reliable water and sewer service doesn’t often cross our minds until we no longer have access. I am proud to have secured this funding to improve the daily lives of Bedford County residents,” Stefano said.
Woodbury Water Authority will receive $523,602 for the replacement of water transmission line in Woodbury Borough and Woodbury Township through the H2O PA program. Established by the General Assembly in 2008, it provides for single-year and multi-year grants for the construction of drinking water, sanitary sewer and storm sewer projects; the construction or renovation of flood control projects; and the repair or rehabilitation of high-hazard unsafe dams.
“Infrastructure improvement projects make Pennsylvania’s communities more appealing for businesses, spurring on economic development while also improving the lives of residents,” Topper said. “These projects accomplish both goals and I thank the CFA for recognizing the importance of them.”
The following projects were funded through CFA’s Small Water and Sewer (SWS) Program:
- Bedford Township Municipal Authority received $420,000 to replace sanitary sewer pipes in Bedford Township.
- Wood-Broad Top-Wells Joint Municipal Authority received $32,600 to replace existing influent and effluent meters at the treatment plant in Broad Top Township.
- Saxton Borough received $215,000 for water meter replacements.
- Hopewell Township received $42,500 for a wastewater system improvements project.
The SWS program provides grants for small water, sewer and storm water infrastructure projects. Municipalities and municipal authorities that own and maintain a public water supply, sanitary sewer or storm water system are eligible to apply as long as their projects exceed a total cost of $30,000.
